President and Chief Executive Officer
Tim Sullivan has served as our President and Chief Executive Officer and as a director since September 2005. Prior to joining us, Tim was Chief Operating Officer and then President and CEO of Match.com from January 2001 to September 2004. From May 1999 to January 2001, he served as Vice President of E-commerce for Ticketmaster Online-Citysearch, Inc. From June 1991 to May 1999, Tim held multiple positions at The Walt Disney Company, including Vice President and Managing Director of Buena Vista Home Entertainment Asia Pacific from July 1997 to May 1999. Tim holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and was a Morehead Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer
Howard Hochhauser, is the Company’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. Howard Hochhauser joined Ancestry.com in 2009 as Chief Financial Officer. In February 2012 he added the position of Chief Operating Officer. During his tenure Howard has helped lead the Company’s initial 2009 public offering, its go-private transaction in 2012, 7 acquisitions and all of its public equity and debt financings, and the strategic investment of Silver Lake and GIC. He oversees areas including finance and human resources, as well the company’s content and international operations. Prior to joining Ancestry.com Howard served as Chief Financial Officer of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, and earlier in his career was a Vice President of Equity Research at Bear Stearns & Co. and a Staff Accountant at KPMG Peat Marwick. Howard was voted #1 Internet industry CFO of 2012 by investment community professionals surveyed by Institutional Investor magazine. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University and a B.S. from Boston University. He also serves as a Director of OpenX.
Executive Vice President and General Manager, Ancestry.com DNA
Ken Chahine has served as our Executive Vice President and General Manager for Ancestry.com DNA, LLC since April 2015. He joined the Company as General Manager and Senior Vice President for Ancestry.com DNA, LLC in July of 2011. Prior to joining us, he held several positions, including as Chief Executive Officer of Avigen, a biotechnology company in the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Utah, and at Parke-Davis Pharmaceuticals (currently Pfizer). Ken also teaches a course focused on new venture development, intellectual property, and licensing at the University of Utah's College of Law. He earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan, a J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law, and a B.A. in Chemistry from Florida State University.
Cathy A. Petti, MD
Chief Health Officer, AncestryHealth
Cathy Petti has served as Chief Health Officer for AncestryHealth since June 2015. She has over twenty years of experience in individual and population health, in vitro diagnostics, and academic research. Prior to joining the company, she served as President and CEO of HealthSpring Global, Inc. a consulting firm supporting biotechnology companies, investors, and researchers on the entire life cycle of advanced technologies. She served in several senior management positions including Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of TriCore Reference Laboratories, Global Head of Medical, Clinical and Scientific Affairs at Novartis Diagnostics, and Medical Director of ARUP Laboratories. She has held academic appointments at the rank of Professor at leading academic institutions, authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on advanced technologies in clinical diagnostics, and is the recipient of several scientific awards and honors. She is board-certified in internal medicine and pathology subspecialties, and holds an A.B. from Harvard University and M.D. from Duke University.
Chief Technology Officer
Scott Sorensen has served as our Chief Technology Officer since April 2013. Scott has been at Ancestry.com since June 2002 and has held multiple positions including Senior Vice President of Engineering, Vice President of Search and Vice President of Commerce. Prior to joining Ancestry.com, he was co-founder and Vice President of Engineering and then President at Coresoft Technologies. Scott was an engineering manager at WordPerfect / Novell and a software engineer at IBM. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Brigham Young University.
Senior Vice President of Product Management
Kendall Hulet has served as our Senior Vice President of Product Management at Ancestry since March 2015. He joined the Company in 2003 has held a variety of roles in the product organization including Director of International Product Management and most recently Vice President of Product Management for AncestryDNA. During his tenure, he was deeply involved in some of the most popular innovations at Ancestry, including the “Shaky Leaf” hinting system that has delivered over five billion discoveries; the Ancestry Family Tree system that has led to the creation of over 70 million family trees containing six billion ancestors; and the creation of the award winning Ancestry mobile app, which has been downloaded more than 12 million times. Kendall most recently led the product efforts around AncestryDNA, including launching DNA Circles, and initiatives that aggregate and mine massive amounts of family history data to tell stories. Prior to joining Ancestry, Kendall worked in product marketing at Monster.com. Kendall holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated cum laude with university honors and a B.S. degree in Information Systems from Brigham Young University.
Senior Vice President of Global Content and General Manager of International
Dan Jones has served as our Senior Vice President of Global Content and General Manager of International since January 2016, previously serving as Global Vice President of Content for over four years and General Manager of Ancestry’s International Businesses since 2014. In this time Dan has driven the investment strategies to open up new markets to Ancestry such as Germany and Mexico, as well as overseeing the successful 2015 launch of AncestryDNA in the UK, Canada and Australia. Prior to that, Dan spent six years at The National Archives of the U.K. where he held a number of roles including leading the Business Development, Online Services and PR departments. While at The National Archives Dan implemented a successful program of public private partnership to encourage investment in digital access services, and served on the Executive Team and Board of Directors during 2007 and 2008. Between 1996 and 2002 Dan worked in digital content, and intellectual property acquisition and licensing at the BBC and its commercial arm BBC Worldwide. Dan holds an LLB honors degree in Law and is a graduate of the University of Teesside and the College of Law, York.
Senior Vice President and General Manager of Emerging Businesses
Brian Hansen has served as our Senior Vice President and General Manager of Emerging Businesses since January 2016. Brian has held several other product and general management roles at Ancestry for more than a decade, most recently serving as our Vice President and General Manager of Emerging Businesses. Brian is responsible for Newspapers.com, Fold3, ProGenealogists, Ancestry’s institutional products in libraries and classrooms, Archives.com, Find a Grave, and Ancestry Academy. Previously, Brian was COO at iArchives (acquired by Ancestry.com), VP of Product at Kaboodle (acquired by Hearst Interactive), COO at Infopia, VP of Product and Business Development at FlipDog (acquired by Monster), Strategic Projects Manager at Onyx Software, and a management consultant at Accenture. Brian holds an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a B.A. from Brigham Young University.
Senior Vice President of People and Places
Zach Pino was named Senior Vice President of People and Places in January 2016. Since June 2013 Zach has supported our growing, global employee base as Vice President of People and Places. During this time Ancestry was recognized as a Best Company to Work For in both Utah and San Francisco. He joined the Company in May 2011 as Vice President of Customer Advocacy and Global Customer Service subsequently serving as Vice President of Marketing Operations and Global Customer Service. Prior to joining us, Zach served at eBay from November 2001 to May 2011, where he largely focused on operations management, customer service and business process improvement, while also spending several years helping the company establish its global footprint in Europe and Canada. Prior to eBay, he spent June 1997 to November 2001 at Starwood Hotels and Resorts as a Six Sigma Blackbelt and Operations Manager. Zach holds a B.S. in Mass Communications from the University of Utah.
