President and Chief Executive Officer
Tim Sullivan has served as our President and Chief Executive Officer and as a director since September 2005. Prior to joining us, Tim was Chief Operating Officer and then President and CEO of Match.com from January 2001 to September 2004. From May 1999 to January 2001, he served as Vice President of E-commerce for Ticketmaster Online-Citysearch, Inc. From June 1991 to May 1999, Tim held multiple positions at The Walt Disney Company, including Vice President and Managing Director of Buena Vista Home Entertainment Asia Pacific from July 1997 to May 1999. Tim holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and was a Morehead Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer
Howard Hochhauser has served as our Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer since February 2012. He joined the Company in January 2009 as Chief Financial Officer. Howard was also named #1 Internet CFO of 2012 from Institutional Investor Magazine. From May 2000 to December 2008, he held multiple positions at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc., most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer from March 2006 to December 2008. Howard held multiple positions at Bear Stearns & Co. Inc. from September 1996 to May 2000, serving most recently as Vice President Equity Research Analyst. Prior to joining Bear Stearns & Co. Inc., he worked at First Boston and he was a Staff Accountant at KPMG Peat Marwick. Howard is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University and a B.S. from Boston University. He also currently serves as a Director of OpenX.
Chief Legal Officer, Chief Risk Officer, and Corporate Secretary
William Stern has served as our Chief Legal Officer, Chief Risk Officer, and Corporate Secretary since November 2014. He joined the company in July 2009 as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. From October 2005 to July 2009, he held multiple positions at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc., most recently serving as the General Counsel and Secretary from September 2008 to July 2009. From October 2002 to September 2005, William was a Principal at Fish & Richardson, PC. Prior to joining Fish & Richardson, PC, he was a Partner at Morrison & Foerster, LLP. William holds an M.B.A. and a J.D. from the University of Chicago and an A.B. from Brown University.
Executive Vice President and General Manager, Ancestry.com DNA
Ken Chahine has served as our Executive Vice President and General Manager for Ancestry.com DNA, LLC since April 2015. He joined the Company as General Manager and Senior Vice President for Ancestry.com DNA, LLC in July of 2011. Prior to joining us, he held several positions, including as Chief Executive Officer of Avigen, a biotechnology company in the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Utah, and at Parke-Davis Pharmaceuticals (currently Pfizer). Ken also teaches a course focused on new venture development, intellectual property, and licensing at the University of Utah's College of Law. He earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan, a J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law, and a B.A. in Chemistry from Florida State University.
Chief Marketing Officer
Rob Singer has served as our Chief Marketing Officer since March 2014. Rob joined the Company in November 2010 as Global Vice President of Customer Relationship Management and most recently served as Senior Vice President of US Marketing. Prior to joining Ancestry.com, Rob was the Senior Vice President of Customer Relationship Management at Bank of the West from February 2009 to November 2010. From July 2005 to February 2009, he was the head of Customer Intelligence and Relationship Marketing at StubHub, an eBay Company. Prior to joining StubHub, he held senior-level database marketing and business intelligence positions at Yates Advertising, YellowBrick Solutions, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., and KnowledgeBase Marketing. Rob has a B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in Statistics from James Madison University.
Chief Technology Officer
Scott Sorensen has served as our Chief Technology Officer since April 2013. Scott has been at Ancestry.com since June 2002 and has held multiple positions including Senior Vice President of Engineering, Vice President of Search and Vice President of Commerce. Prior to joining Ancestry.com, he was co-founder and Vice President of Engineering and then President at Coresoft Technologies. Scott was an engineering manager at WordPerfect / Novell and a software engineer at IBM. He holds a B.S in Computer Science from Brigham Young University.
Senior Vice President of Product Management
Kendall Hulet has served as our Senior Vice President of Product Management at Ancestry since March 2015. He joined the Company in 2003 has held a variety of roles in the product organization including Director of International Product Management and most recently Vice President of Product Management for AncestryDNA. During his tenure, he was deeply involved in some of the most popular innovations at Ancestry, including the “Shaky Leaf” hinting system that has delivered over five billion discoveries; the Ancestry Family Tree system that has led to the creation of over 70 million family trees containing six billion ancestors; and the creation of the award winning Ancestry mobile app, which has been downloaded more than 12 million times. Kendall most recently led the product efforts around AncestryDNA, including launching DNA Circles, and initiatives that aggregate and mine massive amounts of family history data to tell stories. Prior to joining Ancestry, Kendall worked in product marketing at Monster.com. Kendall holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated cum laude with university honors and a B.S. degree in Information Systems from Brigham Young University.
Global Vice President of Content
Dan Jones has served as our Global Vice President of Content since November 2011, having joined the organization in October 2008 as Director of International Content. Dan joined Ancestry.com after six years at The National Archives of the U.K. where he held a number of roles including leading the Business Development, Online Services and PR departments. While at The National Archives Dan implemented a successful program of public private partnership to encourage investment in digital access services, and served on the Executive Team and Board of Directors during 2007 and 2008. Between 1996 and 2002 Dan worked in digital content, and intellectual property acquisition and licensing at the BBC and its commercial arm BBC Worldwide. Dan holds an LLB honors degree in Law and is a graduate of the University of Teesside and the College of Law,York.
Vice President and General Manager of Emerging Businesses
Brian Hansen has served as our Vice President and General Manager of Emerging Businesses since March 2015 and has held several product and general management roles at Ancestry for more than a decade. Brian is responsible for Newspapers.com, Fold3, ProGenealogists, the Ancestry Institutional products in libraries and classrooms, Archives.com, and Ancestry Academy. Brian's previous startup roles since 1997 include COO at iArchives (acquired by Ancestry.com), VP of Product at Kaboodle (acquired by Hearst Interactive), COO at Infopia, VP of Product and Business Development at FlipDog (acquired by Monster), and Strategic Projects Manager at Onyx Software. Brian holds an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a B.A. from Brigham Young University.
Vice President of People and Places
Zach Pino has served as our Vice President of People and Places since June 2013. He joined the Company in May 2011 as Vice President of Customer Advocacy and Global Customer Service and most recently served as Vice President of Marketing Operations and Global Customer Service. Prior to joining us, Zach served at eBay from November 2001 to May 2011, where he largely focused on operations management, customer service and business process improvement, while also spending several years helping the company establish its global footprint in Europe and Canada. Prior to eBay, he spent June 1997 to November 2001 at Starwood Hotels and Resorts as a Six Sigma Blackbelt and Operations Manager. Zach holds a B.S. in Mass Communications from the University of Utah.
