The Ancestry Historical Newspaper Collection Provides a Rare Glimpse Into The Past

Fully Searchable Images of Historical Newspapers Available Online

PROVO, Utah, March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- MyFamily.com, the leading company connecting families with their histories and one another, announced today the launch of a new online subscription service, The Ancestry Historical Newspaper Collection. The Collection debuts with images of entire newspapers from the western frontier, the Midwest at the turn of the century, and the long time standard of our nation's news, "The New York Times."

The Ancestry Historical Newspaper Collection opens with images of 150,000 pages from a variety of newspapers dating from 1851 through 1923. The collection is fully searchable, and individual pages can be saved or printed. A sample can be viewed at: http://www.classicnewspapers.com.

MyFamily.com's search feature and proprietary viewer allows users to search for specific names or words in the newspapers. These features allow users to find the information they're looking for in seconds rather than hours, and easily view the documents they are interested in.

"This collection is a rich addition to our vast collection of high quality historical documents and expands our position as the global leader in connecting families with their past," said Tom Stockham, CEO of MyFamily.com. "The incredible search tool and viewer enables customers to access information about people and events of the past. Part of the fun of family history is uncovering details about our ancestors lives -- the events of the time, the goods and services they bought, and the cultural biases that influenced them."

Accessible from http://www.Ancestry.com, the Historical Newspaper Collection subscription is available for $69.95 annually or $24.95 quarterly. Current Ancestry.com subscribers can add the new annual subscription to their account for only $29.95.

MyFamily.com will add to the collection new titles and over twenty thousand pages each week. With over 50 million pages to be posted in the coming months, subscribers will soon have access to one of the largest collections of historical newspapers ever assembled online.
